HNSA 2015 Conference - Programme announced!

Great news! Tickets for the inaugural Historical Novel Society Australasia are now available. The conference will be held in Sydney on 21-22 March 2015 at historic Balmain Town Hall, Sydney, with the opening reception being held at the State Library of NSW on the 20th.

The first 30 ticketholders to purchase a ‘Standard’ Whole Conference Ticket will receive a free copy of either The Lace Balcony by Johanna Nicholls, The King’s Shadow by Barbara Gaskell Denvil or The Island House by Posie Graeme-Evans.

Cocktails and Debate at the Opening Reception on Friday 20th at the State Library of NSW.  Kate Forsyth will open the conference with guest speaker, Sophie Masson. Felicity Pulman will launch her new book, Unholy Murder followed by a lively debate chaired by Kelly Gardiner with Deborah Challinor, Jesse Blackadder, Gillian Polack and Rachel Le Rossignol, on the topic 'What can historical novelists and historians learn from each other?' This event is separately ticketed.

All ticket holders to the reception will receive a Momentum ebook bundle in celebration of Felicity Pulman’s launch of Unholy Murder.

The conference program includes sessions on craft, research, inspiration, publishing pathways, social media, sub-genres and personal histories. Swinburne University of Technology is sponsoring an academic stream with participants being given the opportunity to be published in a special edition of The Australian Journal of Crime Fiction. Manuscript assessments will be conducted by publishing consultant, Irina Dunn. Dr Gillian Pollack is offering super sessions to authors interested in learning how to weave research into compelling fiction.
